Ok, so we all knew they were screwing each other over….that’s the trend these days. They announced their “separation” last night on their TLC show “John and Kate Plus 8.”

John said:

“Kate and I have decided to separate. It’s just not good for us to be arguing in front of our kids . . . we can’t be cordial with one another.”

He sounds pretty STOKED over the whole thing, actually:

“I do have feelings as well and I’m hurt by all of this. I’m excited and hurt at the same time. I have a new chapter in my life. I’m only 32 years old.”

Party on bro..

Kate said:

“not fond of the idea,” but knows it is “necessary.”

She’ll get LOADS of money and still get to spend most of her time with the kids:

“The show must go on.” ….. “We’ve always done the show for the kids, to be able to provide for them, to collect the memories for ourselves.”

Great memory this episode will be, I’ll guess they’ll skip this home movie around the holidays…

Kate said she’s planning on living at their home in Pennsylvania with their eight kids . . . but it’s unclear what Jon will do..there’s DIRT of him moving to New York..???

At the end of last night’s episode, an onscreen graphic announced:

“Legal proceedings were initiated in Pennsylvania to dissolve the ten-year marriage of Jon and Kate Gosselin.”

Officially, it was Kate who filed for divorce. In a statement earlier yesterday, she said:

“Over the course of this weekend, Jon’s activities have left me no choice but to file legal procedures in order to protect myself and our children. While there are reasons why it was appropriate and necessary for me to initiate this proceeding, I do not wish to discuss those reasons at this time, in the hope that all issues will be resolved amicably between Jon and myself. As always, my first priority remains our children.”

The legendary Ed McMahon died just after midnight last night at the Ronald Reagan/UCLA Medical Center in California, he was 86.  McMahon was hospitalized in February with pneumonia and other medical problems.

He was an entertainment hero, working with greats including Johnny Carson and Dick Clark.  He was a household name, best known for being Johnny Carson’s sidekick on “The Tonight Show”, and loved by many as the host of “Star Search” and “Bloopers and Practical Jokes.”

McMahon’s last years were filled with drama including law suits, injuries, and financial problems. He once said to Larry King:

“If you spend more money than you make, you know what happens. And it can happen. You know, a couple of divorces thrown in, a few things like that..”

He is survived by his wife, Pamela, and five children. A sixth child, McMahon’s son Michael, died in 1995.
